What is EDMR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing) is a form of psychotherapy that allows the client to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Successful studies show that by using EMDR in their therapy one can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. EMDR shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma just as the body recovers from physical trauma. When you cut your hand, your body works to heal the wound, if a foreign body or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. EMDR therapy shows that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental process. The brains information processing system naturally moves towards mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event or events, the emotional wound festers, grows, causes intense suffering and impacts living. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. Using detailed protocols and procedures learned in extensive training, I can help you activate your natural healing processes.
